What Will Pablo Barrios Inherit?
Koke built a midfield standard over 700-plus matches. Barrios is not copying it — he is inheriting the same weight through a different shape. A progressive-carry rate in the top 12% of European midfielders and the void exposed by two right-thigh injuries. Through data and key moments, this column traces the generational handover forming in Atlético's engine room.

WHY CHOLISMO LAB
A loss looks a little different when you can see why.
Following Atlético means accepting that plenty of matches will not end well. But when you understand why, even the same 0–1 can look different. Where did the team stop progressing in the first half? Which player was the opponent trying to remove from the game?
Cholismo Lab is an independent media project run by one Atlético supporter. We revisit matches, look closely at players and tactics, and make player profiles and quizzes too. The aim is to leave you noticing something different when you watch the next match.
We hope it gives people who already love Atlético more to enjoy. And if discovering a player or a match here helps someone new fall for the club, that would make us very happy too. It is one of the reasons to keep the site going.
MATCH REPORTS
Atlético Madrid's La Liga season ended in humiliation as Villarreal ran riot in a 5-1 final-day rout at La Cerámica. Four first-half goals exposed the defensive frailties that haunted Simeone's side all season. Griezmann's farewell was overshadowed, and fourth place was confirmed.
